Caught A Ghost is a foot-stomping, electronic soul outfit led by producer Jesse Nolan, from East Los Angeles, California. Their sound reaches into the past, grabs ahold of images and sounds that resonate, and complements them with modern sonic landscapes and lyrics that are sure to spark the urge to get up and MOVE.
The band’s live show typically consists of a 4 piece band colorfully backdropped by homemade visual treatments that paint vivid landscapes for each song they perform live.
The band released their debut album “Human Nature LP” on +1 Records in April 2014, which garnered positive reviews from Rolling Stone, Paste, SPIN, Billboard, USA Today, and Last Call with Carson Daly and more.
Caught A Ghost have performed before thousands of fans in North America and the United Kingdom, with several sold out performances in the United States. You may have heard their music alongside TV ads for Miller Lite and BMW, or in the popular series SUITS, Netflix Original Series Easy, Vampire Diaries, Bosch, The Blacklist, Boardwalk Empire, Notorious.
Caught A Ghost is currently putting the final touches on their second studio album slated for release in mid 2017.
Critically acclaimed Irish musician Fionn Regan’s The Meetings of the Waters, his first album in nearly half a decade, will be released on April 14 via his own label imprint TSUNENI AI (translates to “Always Love” in Japanese). The video for the album’s title track and lead single, starring Irish actor Cillian Murphy (“Peaky Blinders”), is streaming via Pitchfork. Watch HERE.
The Meetings of the Waters was co-produced by Regan, Philip Tennant and Dave Granshaw at Chale Abbey Studios on the Isle of Wight. It was mixed by Tom Elmhurst at Electric Lady Studios in New York, and by Tchad Blake at Mongrel Studios in Wales. Of the new music, Regan explains, “For me to make a completely acoustic record now would not be honest. It’s just what you hear, it’s the bleeding in of everything, it’s the landscape that we’re in. Just a voice and a guitar doesn’t tell the whole picture for me right now, it’s everything that I’ve taken in sitting around listening to electronic music.” The album’s title is, he says, an acknowledgement that “the record is kind of a meeting of both things that are influential. That meeting is the two things actually arriving. That’s what I was trying to get to, and that’s why it took a little bit longer, to work out how to do that and for it to evolve naturally, and for it to feel timeless, and like it comes from the same source.”
While he’s best know for his “impressive acoustic rhythm” and “cosy folk” (The Guardian), scale and adventure are wonderfully present throughout this new record. It’s a body of work that moves him comfortably into a more expansive space, exploring a more electronic field and giving the music more room to breathe. You’ll have probably heard his voice recently, even if you weren’t aware of it, as his song “Abacus” was sampled by Justin Vernon on “00000 Million” from Bon Iver’s 22, A Million. It was serendipity to receive the request from Vernon at a point where The Meetings of the Waters was finding real shape. The pair have since met and worked together in Berlin.
Born in Bray, Ireland, Regan came to prominence with the release of his debut studio album, The End Of History in 2006. Over the course of his career, Regan has been nominated for the Choice Music Prize in Ireland, the Mercury Prize in the U.K. and the Shortlist Music Prize in the U.S.
